Day 30: Original 50 Days of Pray Revisited

Thoughts on Day 30: This is always going to be a problem with most third world Christians. We are bombarded daily with the “need” to have new stuff. When we have been programmed from birth to have the latest and greatest how can we expect to change?

DAY THIRTY

Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me? (Hebrews 13:5-6 MSG)

We sure do have lots of stuff. And we seem to always want more. Why do we put ourselves into the I want more lifestyle? Why can’t we be satisfied with what we have, not looking for the latest cell phone, the newest car or the latest designer clothing?

God wants us to rely on Him to satisfy our need. Seems to easy when we are in control of our finances to say God is in control, but never ask him for direction.

Dear Jesus, help me to be satisfied with what I have, not focused on getting the latest and greatest. I really want You in control of my needs, help me to relinquish control. Amen
