To go all in with our relationship with God is to also rely on him as well. Not just when things are going really bad and you need his help to get out of a situation that is out of your control. When life is giving you everything you could ever desire we need to still rely on God’s hand in those times to because if we don’t we won’t recognize that the blessings we are receiving are from him. We will take credit for them, and that my friends is not living a life all in.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
Sometimes we have things come across our path of life we just cannot explain. We try our best to get through it on our own, adding much worry and stress to our lives. We tend to try to deal with it on our own first. But here in a letter to the Philippians church we are told something different. It tells us to tell God what we need, not to worry about anything, and to pray about everything. I am sure you are reading this and think ” really God wants me to pray about everything? If God knew what I was going through he wouldn’t want anything to do with me.”
Are you sure? Have you ever tried giving everything to him? Pray about everything, money, time, job, spouse, kids, family, your vacation plans, God wants to guide you in all aspects of your life. Don’t think he is only concerned with what we label ” important” because he knows that the little things are just as important in the long run. Jesus told us that God knows even the count of the hairs on our head. Well if the study of the human body tells us anything is that we lose a lot of hair every day and new ones (for many) start growth the same time. For God to keep that number shows that he cares about what is happening to you.
If your living in turmoil and grief, depression is running your life, maybe anxiety is overbearing your everyday life, then be encouraged in these verses. For God has a peace he gives to those who love him, a peace that all guard your hearts and minds. Tell God what you need. If you need peace, ask, if you need love ask, if you need patience ask, if you need anything ask and then thank him for all he has done. Maybe everything new day. That’s the best part of a relationship, it is there for the good and bad times. Who likes a friend who constantly is crying about how bad they have it and never talk about the good times? Share your good times with God too. Go all in within your relationship with him.
Dear Jesus, I pray that you will guard the hearts and minds of your believers, give them a peace as the rest in your arms knowing you are in control. It is often very hard for us to give control to you and see where life goes, but when we do we can almost breathe a sigh of relief as you guide us. Too often as we take control we end up in the ditch. If we are in a ditch God we ask for assistance to get out and back on the path following you. Help us to give you control in the good times as well when things seem to be going our way. Thank you for everything you do for us, we’re all about going all in. Amen
