Day 29: 50 Days of Change

“If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?”‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I sometimes wonder how life would turn out if there was a salary cap on every occupation. Of course this would most likely lead to socialism, but the though is that who really needs a seven digit  salary? This is an eye opening thought when you realize that in some place there are people who are lucky to get a three digit salary if any at all.

As believers in Jesus we are to be wise with our money, but we are also called to be generous giving to those in need. Helping orphans, widows ensuring that we have compassion. Since I have only insight in my own church family I can only assume that every church has a passion for those in need. How they distribute to those in need may vary, but do you know what your church is doing for this group? What are you doing?

How can we help? How can we change and become more compassionate and loving? If you are able fostering or adopting is a awesome service. Maybe you have time to visit I and help the widows, homeless, low income families, your time is valuable and they know it. Maybe you have money, find a way to help others not to lift yourself up but to build into them. One thing I like to do is ensure I have gift cards for groceries in my car, better to give a gift of food to those who need it. Be prepared to help. Is gods love flowing through you? We are not built for input only but output as well.

Father, today show us how we can help those in need around us. If we can help with monetary issues then show us how much to give. If it is our time, then help us to free it up to give. If it is our talents then guide us to someone who we can use them for. Jesus, we want to be a people who not only receive your love but are ready and able to give your love out to others. Let us see others as you see them, loved and in need of a relationship. We love them not only because you love them but because they are important to us. Amen
